Blue Lake Trek
Starting from Australia's highest village, Charlotte Pass, you will walk across the Snowy River and trek on to experience the power and beauty of the ancient Blue Lake. Hewn out of granite by colliding rivers of ice, this is Kosciuszko National Park's deepest glacial lake. The final 800 metres of trail ascends steadily on a paved trail, although the last few hundred metres to Charlotte Pass is sometimes known as heartbreak hill, but it's worth it.
Mount Stilwell Trek
This trek follows Kangaroo Ridge around the top of Charlotte Pass Ski Resort. After passing Mount Stillwell the hidden mystique of an alpine valley is revealed, leading to the ruins of a chairlift rumoured to be the longest in the world. Enjoy open views of the Main Range and Mount Kosciuszko.
The Bullocks Track
Starting from the resort's doorstep, enjoy walking through the Kosciuszko National Park along the Thredbo River and to the Diggings Rest Area. Your local guide will share stories and point out remnants of gold digging days, the historic Bullocks Hut and beautiful alpine flora. This is an excellent walk for spotting native animals. Due to the track's proximity to the Novotel Resort this is an ideal walk for those pressed for time.
Overnight Alpine Walk
Day One Negotiate stepping stones across the famous Snowy River and climb a paved walkway to the ancient Blue Lake cirque, a natural crater formed by an inexorable combination of gravity and ice. Then it?s upwards to Carruther?s Peak for lunch and a rest, whilst enjoying the breathtaking views of the Sentinel and Main Range. The walk continues along the spine of the Great Divide past beautiful Lake Albina with its dramatic vista over the western escarpment. Return to a fully catered campsite in the heart of Australia's true alpine terrain to relax, dine and watch a spectacular Snowy Mountain?s sunset. Day Two Wake early, have a quick cuppa and grab a snack as there?s summiting to be done! From camp stroll to Rawson?s Pass (good loo?s here) before winding our way up to the summit of Australia, Mount Kosciuszko (depending on the time of year and weather, perhaps in time for sunrise). Following the summit, head back down to camp for a hearty breakfast then it?s off across the headwaters of the Snowy River. Experience the peculiarity of the granite tors and stunning snow gums as you descend through the alpine forest to Dead Horse Gap and a well earned lunch before the leisurely trip back to Lake Crackenback Resort.
Multi Peaks and Glacial Lakes
A one night and two day hike. Follow a meandering trail from Guthega Village through sup-alpine terrain to a suspension bridge crossing the mighty Snowy River. A long ascent through a variation of terrain and vegetation leads to Mount Twynam, the country's third highest peak. Descend into the upper Blue Lake cirque and onwards to the deep, cold waters of the lake itself. Back on track we cross the Snowy River again and head to base camp where in-field comforts await. On day two, depart camp following the Old Summit Road to Rawson's Pass before reaching the summit of Mt Kosciuszko via the stone shelter, 'Seamans Hut'. On return, descent to glacial Lake Cootapatamba via South Kosciuszko Ridge and climb to the high ground of the Ramsheads where stacks of granite boulders stand perched. Join the Dead Horse Gap track that winds past the rocky peaks of the southern end of the Main Range and descends through snow gum forests to your pick up point. The grade is hard and requires a good level of fitness.
Mount Kosciuszko Trek
Ride the chairlift from Thredbo Valley to Eagles Nest, follow a path that crosses the headwaters of the Snowy River and enjoy the vista of Lake Cootapatamba, Australia's highest lake. The journey continues to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's highest peak, which affords sweeping views over the Main Range and beyond to Victorian alpine terrain. The Grade is easy for all standards of walkers with duration of four and a half to seven hours (variation in time is relative to group fitness level, including breaks).
Pass to Pass Walk
This is a challenging walk; dissecting the Main Range from Charlotte Pass to Dead Horse Gap. Trek through a huge natural amphitheatre of derelict ruins of Australian skiing heritage, climb steep slopes, circumnavigate glacial lakes, climb Australia?s two highest peaks, cross meandering streams, pass intriguing granite outcrops and pass through enchanting snow gum forests. There is lots to see and many kilometres to cover.
