By Air

Qantas and Virgin Blue have a high frequency of daily flights to Canberra from Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne, with connecting flights from other capital cities.

Car rental facilities are available at Canberra airport for the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Snowy Mountains. In winter, transfers from Canberra Airport to the resorts can be arranged through Greyhound and Transborder Coach Companies. 

 

By Rail or Coach 

CountryLink CountryLink have a train service from Sydney to Canberra daily with a connecting coach to Cooma. Countrylink have services from Canberra to Cooma 7 days a week and a Mon/Wed/Fri service. Check for timetable details on 13 22 32.  Bookings can also be made locally at Percy's Newsagency in Sharp Street.
Note: snowboards and skis are not accepted as luggage due to space limitations.

V-Line Coaches operate from Melbourne to Canberra via Cooma twice a week.  Bookings can be made locally at Harvey World Travel, Sharp Street in Cooma.

Greyhound have frequent coach services from Sydney and Melbourne to Canberra. During the winter months, services continue to the Snowy Mountains.

Transborder/Lever 'Alpine Express' offers a daily winter service from Canberra to the Snowy Mountains. Tickets are sold on the coach, however bookings and enquiries can be made to Transborder Express (office hours) 6241 0033.  Bookings can also be made locally at Harvey World, Sharp Street in Cooma. 

Murrays operates a daily coach service from Canberra to the Snowy Mountains during the winter period.  Murrays also have Snow Packages available.  For bookings and timetable information call (61) 13 22 51.

Canberra Day Tours offer a Snowy Mountains Day Tour on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tour takes you to Perisher and Blue Cow.  For further information and bookings contact John on 0418 455 099.

Snowliner Coaches is a Cooma-based coach company operating the school bus service between Cooma, Adaminaby, Berridale, Dalgety, Nimmitabel and Jindabyne. Visitors are welcome to join the morning or afternoon school bus, which operates twice every school day (early morning and mid afternoon). Does not operate during NSW School Holidays.

Cooma Coaches is a Cooma-based coach company operating the school bus service between Cooma and Jindabyne three times a day, please call for bookings. Does not operate during NSW School Holidays.

Snow Alliance ( 1800 280 121) is a collaborative venture between several bus companies based in the Snowy Mountains. By working together we are able to provide reliable service and flexibility to our customers who want to get to the snow. Companies are Hummingbird Charters, Jindabyne Alpine Charters and Snow Coach.

Snowcoach (1800 775 720) is a local company operating door to door services in the Snowy Mountains, Snowcoach will collect from Canberra Airport and deliver to Cooma, Adaminby, Jindabyne, Thredbo and Perisher Blue. The vehicle is a 6-seater luxury 4WD. Pre-booking, pre-payment and minimum numbers are required - call for more information.

Alpine Charters (02 6456 7340) a local charter company with pick ups from Cooma to the mountains.

Hummingbird Charters (02 6456 4425) a local charter company which can provide bus service to the local communities for a variety of events, day tours and special occasions.

During the Ski Season, several coach companies operate shuttle services from the Snowy Region Visitors Centre in Jindabyne to the skifields, with departures throughout the day. For specific details, contact the Snowy Region Visitors Centre on 1800 004 439.

Hire Cars

Highway Rentals offer a car hire service with cars available at Jindabyne and Cooma.  The service operates from the Caltex Service Station, 41 Sharp Street, Cooma, (02) 6452 4400 and the Caltex Service Station, Kosciuszko Road, Jindabyne, (02) 6456 4425.

 

Skitube

The Skitube was designed as a winter based access system to improve entry to the Perisher skifields.  The service operates from Bullocks Flat on the Alpine Way and travels to Perisher Valley and onto Blue Cow and is only available from the long weekend in June until the long weekend in October.  During peak times trains depart every 20 minutes.
