Around the Block is a very long but rewarding ride around the region.
Around the Block can be done is a few days or longer. The ride can be done with a group and we recommend having a support crew with you along the way. There are some long isolated sections and steep up and down-hill stretches to navigate.
Day 1 - Jindabyne to Adaminaby or Providence Portal - 115km
This scenic ride of undulating road of good surface along the Snowy Mountains Highway. Exit Jindabyne toward Berridale, turn left at Middlingbank Rd until you turn left onto Snowy Mountains Hwy, follow this to Adaminaby (where you can stop, rest and stay if you wish) or until you reach Providence. Suggest staying at the Providence Lodge (check prior for bookings).
Day 2 - Providence to Khancoban - 105km
Depart Providence along the Snowy Mountains Hwy into the Kosciuszko National Park past Kiandra until you turn left onto Link Rd that takes you to Cabramurra. This road weaves up to past Selwyn Skifields and Australia's highest town Cabramurra. Follow this road (where you'll find a very challenging climb), until you reach the left turn on to the Alpine Way. Follow this until you reach Khancoban located at the base of the Main Range. Suggested accommodation, the Alpine Inn.
Day 3 - Khancoban to Jindabyne - 110km
This is one of the toughest uphill, but most picturesque rides, that you find anywhere in Australia! Start from the base and ride past the 'top of Australia' heading towards Thredbo. You can take your time and camp at Geehi, or slug it out to Thredbo and stay there, or perhaps Lake Crackenback Resort. Once you reach Thredbo, the hard work is down and it's a fairly easy, mostly downhill ride to Jindabyne.
