Throughout the winter months Thredbo has snow covered terrain to suit everyone. Whether you are a beginner learning on the gentle slope of Friday Flat, stepping it up a gear at the Cruiser intermediate area or having a crack at some of the most advanced terrain in the country, Thredbo has trails for all standards, with 480ha of snow riding whether you are a skier, boarder, sightseer or snowman builder.
Thredbo also has a variety of activity options to explore both on-snow and in the village from back country adventures, to splashing and sliding at the Thredbo Leisure Centre, from a snow shoe adventure to the adrenaline of a terrain park, from fireworks displays and flare runs to retail therapy there is the activity to suit every mood, style and pace.
If you’re not too familiar with the slopes of Thredbo meet the Guest Services team at the top of the Gunbarrel Express at 11am for a free two hour mountain tour during July and August. You need to be an upper intermediate skier or boarder and have a valid lift pass.
To hone your skills, the Thredbo Snow Sports School offers group and private lessons for all ages and ability levels; a range of special and all day programs and a learn to ski or board guarantee. Lessons are not just for first timers, they are for anyone who wants to sharpen their skills and take their riding to the next level in a fun and exciting environment.
Thredbo’s quaint and picturesque village has a wide selection of shops to cater for all shopping needs. After tackling the mountain, you can also enjoy a great mix of restaurants, bars and cafes to tickle your tastes whatever your budget. At the Thredbo Leisure Centre you can pump up at altitude and fine tune your muscles, take part in a fitness class, swim a few laps in the Olympic sized heated pool, play all your favourite games in the huge sports hall, have a hit of squash and climb the bouldering wall.
All of Thredbo’s accommodation is within easy walking distance to the lifts and village centre. The layout of Thredbo ensures that there is a mountain view from most places so you can throw back the curtains for your on the spot weather report.
