Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre

Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre is the perfect base to relax after a day of exploring the Snowy Mountains. Fully self-contained, the comfortable two-bedroom apartments sleep six and feature a television, bathroom with shower and full kitchen. Free WiFi is available and there are barbecue and shared laundry facilities. Also available are two-bedroom conference units and four-bedroom Athlete Village apartments. Carve up the slopes in winter, and in warmer weather explore the area's many stunning trails. Head out to Lake Jindabyne for a spot of fly fishing, sailing, water skiing or swimming, or saddle up and experience all these incredible country offers. Just six hours from Sydney, the centre is a short drive from town and 30 minutes from the snowfields.

Thredbo Alpine Coaster

The Southern Hemisphere’s first-ever year-round alpine coaster is at Thredbo. This 1.5km ride sees passengers hit up to 40km/h (riders can control their own pace) as they speed around the uphill, downhill track featuring a tunnel, bridges and circles, all while being immersed in the alpine environment. The alpine coaster will operate in every season and is for people aged eight years or older.

Kosciuszko National Park

From Jindabyne to Tumut, NSW's largest national park will keep you busy for a weekend or for weeks. Ski or snowboard the highest runs in the country at Thredbo and Perisher and try cross-country skiing in winter. Go camping, descend underground to magical Yarrangobilly Caves or climb to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko on the Main Range walk in summer. Why not take on the challenge of Snowy's Alpine Walk? This 56-kilometre hike connects alpine villages at Guthega, Charlotte Pass, Perisher Valley and Bullocks Hut. Spend 4 days walking in the Snowy Mountains and see glacial lakes, wildflower meadows, historic huts and spectacular views. Adventure seekers can also get their thrills on the Thredbo Valley track. Beyond high mountain peaks, you'll find more to explore. There's great fishing and paddling in the lower Snowy and upper Murray rivers. Throw a line in a mountain stream or reservoir like Blowering, Eucumbene and Tantangara or stop in for a swim in the spring waters of Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool. You could also saddle up for a horse ride in the High Plains or near Khancoban.

Scout NSW Alpine Activity Centre

The Alpine Activity Centre in Jindabyne offers high-quality, budget-friendly accommodation at the heart of NSW’s High Country. The Centre is set amidst four acres of bushland, and boasts spectacular views of Lake Jindabyne. Its comfortable self-contained cottages and purpose-built dormitory-style accommodation cater for groups of all shapes and sizes, providing a base where guests can unwind, rejuvenate and take on exhilarating adventures all year round. The Centre’s two self-contained cottages – Kanangra and Bluegum – sleep up to nine people each, perfect for a small groups such as families and friends. Each cottage is air-conditioned, and has its own kitchen, laundry, two bathrooms, television, as well as a veranda and outdoor barbecue area overlooking Lake Jindabyne. The Tony Balthasar Lodge is ideal for larger groups including schools, sports and community groups, with its dormitory rooms sleeping up to 96 people. Comfortable bunk beds are featured throughout, while its large commercial style kitchen allows groups to self-cater during their stay. The Lodge also has a dining room with 100-seat capacity, and communal lounge area perfect for winding down at the end of the day. Parking available onsite, with space for boats, cars and coaches.
