Thredbo Alpine Coaster

The Southern Hemisphere’s first-ever year-round alpine coaster is at Thredbo. This 1.5km ride sees passengers hit up to 40km/h (riders can control their own pace) as they speed around the uphill, downhill track featuring a tunnel, bridges and circles, all while being immersed in the alpine environment. The alpine coaster will operate in every season and is for people aged eight years or older.

Kosciuszko Walk - Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko

If you’re visiting Kosciuszko National Park in the warmer months, a walk to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko is a must-do. Starting at the top of the Kosciuszko Express chairlift at Thredbo, this popular day walk takes you to the rooftop of Australia. After the scenic chairlift ride, you'll travel past the rocky granite outcrops of Ramshead Range, and through alpine wildflowers (spring). Stop at the lookout for views of the country's highest mountain. The track crosses the headwaters of the Snowy River, before climbing above Lake Cootapatamba and on to Rawson Pass. From here, it’s a gradual climb to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 metres). The sweeping 360 degree views across the Snowy Mountains and Victorian High Country are sure to wow you. Stay a while to soak in the fresh alpine air, pack a summit snack, and wallow in your sense of achievement, before returning along the track to Thredbo.

Thredbo Alpine Hotel

The Thredbo Alpine Hotel is located in the heart of Thredbo Village, just metres from the base of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift. Thredbo Alpine Village

Whatever the season, Thredbo Alpine Village is a fantastic base to explore the sublime alpine landscape of Kosciuszko National Park and the rooftop of Australia. The intimate village is at an altitude of 1,370 metres, so it's not far to the ski slopes of one of Australia’s top resorts, which boasts over 280 hectares of territory to play around on. Terrain parks offer lots of fun for snowboarders too. When the weather warms up, it’s a great time to take Kosciuszko Express Chairlift and hike to the summit of Australia’s tallest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko. A glorious sea of wildflowers emerge not long after the snow melts and the views from the top across the Snowy Mountains are superb. Back at village-level, activities include horse riding, guided walks, bobsled and fishing, or check out the leisure centre. Adventure-seekers can take on the many mountain bike trails like Thredbo Valley track, or go abseiling. In the evening, relax over a meal, or catch one of Thredbo's annual events and festivals.

Thredbo Diggings campground

You want mountain views, a river setting, and a peaceful spot among the snow gums? Thredbo Diggings campground is definitely the site for you. During summer, lots of families and fishermen enjoy this place by Thredbo River. The former like to ride the Thredbo Valley track, walk riverside Bullocks track, or cool off in the in the water. The latter aren't too fond of all that splashing but try to hook brown and rainbow trout with a spot of fly fishing. For hardcore skiers, who are also very well-prepared, Thredbo Diggings campground is a short drive to the ski fields at Thredbo Alpine Village and the ski tube to Perisher. Thredbo Diggings campground is also a short drive to Ngarigo campground as well as local attractions including Wild Brumby Schnapps Distillery, Lake Crackenback Resort and Bullocks Hut.
