The highly anticipated Mt Tumbarumba Mountain Bike Park has officially opened. As Australia's first community-owned and operated mountain bike park, the opening marks a major milestone for adventure tourism in the bush-fire affected Snowy Valleys region.
Designed to be a premier destination for mountain biking enthusiasts, the park offers gravity-focused trails, stunning rugged granite landscapes and a deep connection to the resilience of the Tumbarumba community.
Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Tumbarumba, riders of all skill levels can challenge themselves on world-class tracks with 22km of gravity-focused trails and a 315m elevation drop. Access is made easy with a shuttle service or a dedicated 6km climbing trail. For those who prefer a slower pace, an 8km scenic hiking loop winds through alpine forests and striking granite outcrops, offering stunning views.
The opening of Mt Tumbarumba Bike Park is a testament to the unwavering spirit of the local community. Following the devastation of the Black Summer bushfires, the local community saw an opportunity to rebuild in a way that would drive economic growth, tourism, and adventure-driven experiences. With $3.4 million in funding from the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grant, plus an extraordinary grassroots fundraising effort—including a cattle auction that raised over $141,000—the community purchased the land and brought their vision to life.
"“This park is more than just trails—it’s a story of resilience, determination, and the power of community. We’ve created something special here that will put Tumbarumba on the map as an adventure destination, while also providing a space for locals and visitors to enjoy our incredible landscape."
Beyond the adrenaline-fuelled trails, Tumbarumba offers a complete adventure getaway with gravel and cross-country cycling networks, the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail and a pump track and bike playground ensuring there is something for everyone. A destination for unwinding and reconnecting with nature, visitors can take advantage of great fly fishing, hiking and outdoor adventures as well as award-winning cool climate wines, craft breweries and distilleries, local produce and country hospitality after a day’s exploring.
The Mt Tumbarumba Mountain Bike Park is Australia’s first community-owned and operated mountain bike park. As a paid access facility with a range of pass options available, visitors can enjoy the adventure knowing that the fees contribute to maintaining and developing the trails and facilities into the future.
