Where Should You Go to Eat and Drink?

The whole region comes alive for Easter, which means there are plenty of places to eat, drink and taste the best of what the Snowy Mountains have to offer. From country pub feeds to cosy cellar doors, Easter is the perfect time to get out and explore what's on offer.

Where To Eat

What to Expect from the Weather

Our stunning region covers a vast area that varies greatly in elevation, from the lofty heights of Mt Kosciusko at 2,228m to the quaint lakeside town of Khancoban, which sits at 337m. Due to this, visitors can expect differences in the weather and temperatures depending on where they are. Plus, autumn is typically a changeable season, so conditions can vary greatly from one day to the next. As a touch point, the average minimum temperature for April at Snowy Mountains Airport is 15 degrees celsius, with the average maximum being 22 degree celsius. April is typically a sunny month, so, with some luck, you can expect clear days and crisp nights when you visit the Snowy Mountains this Easter. Perfect for doing activities during the day and relaxing at night! However, we definitely recommend packing the raincoats and woolly jumpers because it’s a good idea to be prepared for anything the weather throws your way.

What Activities are on offer in the Snowy Mountains?

If you’re looking for an adventure in nature, you’ve come to the right place! You’ll find plenty to see and do in the great outdoors over the Easter period.

Mountain Biking

Imagine hitting the gravity trails at full speed in Thredbo or cruising along the iconic Thredbo Valley Track - whatever your adventure type, there's a trail waiting to be explored. The Snowy Mountains are renowned as Australia's top mountain biking playground, from the trails of Mt Gladstone in Cooma to the lakeside Tyrolean Trails in Jindabyne. Whatever your choice, Easter is a great time to tour the Snowy Mountains on two wheels.

Hiking

Whether you want to reach the lofty heights of Mt Kosciuszko or looking for a family friendly hike hunting waterfalls, the various trails that wind their way through Kosciuszko National Park and surrounds offer something for everyone. Set off on the new Snowies Alpine Walk for a multi-day adventure or explore the shorter day hikes at your own pace. You can also visit one of the many historic Alpine Huts dotted throughout the high country. Whatever your choice, you will be treated to incredible scenery, completely unique to this special part of the world.

Fishing

This Easter, why not tackle one of the best trout fishing regions in the world? April is regarded as an excellent time of the year for fishing in the Snowy Mountains, particularly when it comes to fly fishing. This is due to the air temperatures being perfect for spending extended time in the outdoors while conditions in the water are still warm enough to tempt the trout out of hiding.
