Snowies Alpine Walk

Snowies Alpine Walk, in Kosciuszko National Park, is an epic journey across the alpine roof of Australia. This spectacular new four-day walk covers 56 kilometres of rugged mountain terrain, linking the alpine villages of Guthega, Perisher Valley and Charlotte Pass. Reach the summit of Mount Kosciuszko – Australia's highest peak at 2228 metres above sea level – and experience the grandeur of the Snowy Mountains in the warmer seasons. Discover majestic snow gum forests, vibrant wildflower meadows, snow-capped mountain ranges and incredible views of high-country plains. Choose a self-guided adventure and stay in cosy park accommodation, or base yourself in a nearby alpine village to tackle the walk in full or in sections. Snowies Alpine Walk is one of the NSW Great Walks – a series of multi-day hikes that highlight some of the state's most spectacular and diverse natural landscapes.

Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley walk is part of the spectacular new Snowies Alpine Walk – a multi-day hike through alpine and sub-alpine landscapes in Kosciuszko National Park. Explore the natural wonders of NSW high country on this invigorating 12km one-way walk. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful views of high-country plains, snow-capped mountain ranges and clear flowing rivers.

Perisher Valley to Bullocks Flat walk

Perisher Valley to Bullocks Flat Walk is part of the spectacular new Snowies Alpine Walk – a multi-day hike through alpine and sub-alpine landscapes in Kosciuszko National Park. Discover snow gum forests, wildflower meadows and expansive valley views on this 12-kilometre one-way walk. You'll wind through forests of tangled snow gums and towering alpine ash, passing tea tree gullies and mossy alpine bogs home to unique alpine frogs. The hills come alive in spring and summer with yellow billy buttons and snow daisies that dot the landscape with colour. The picturesque walk also takes you along the banks of the Thredbo River with the views of Ramshead Range in the distance.

Guthega to Charlotte Pass walk

Guthega to Charlotte Pass walk

Guthega to Charlotte Pass walk is the first section of the new multi-day Snowies Alpine Walk in stunning Kosciuszko National Park. This invigorating 9 kilometre walking track on Monero Ngarigo Country winds from Guthega to Charlotte Pass. It offers breathtaking views, fresh alpine air, and a truly immersive adventure in the Snowy Mountains.

Mount Kosciuszko Summit walk

Mount Kosciuszko Summit walk

Hike or ride from Charlotte Pass to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko, through the peaks of Kosciuszko National Park. Set out along the old road to Mount Kosciuszko, to see Australia's highest mountains, historic huts, weathered snow gums and rock formations. Admire wildflowers like marsh marigolds and silver snow daisies in early summer. Around 4.5 kilometres from Charlotte Pass the Snowy River offers a scenic picnic spot. Cross the river and continue your walk or ride as the track winds up to Seaman's Hut, built in 1929, before carrying on to Rawson Pass. If riding, leave your bike at Rawson Pass and walk the 1.4 kilometres to the summit of Mount Kosciuszko (2228 metres). Return to Charlotte Pass along the same track. If you're after a challenge and come well-equipped, combine this walk with the longer Main Range walk, or join the Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko walk.
