Discover Spectacular Mountain Views: The Alpine Way

Reaching from Jindabyne to Khancoban, this iconic road trip roams through the southern reaches of Kosciuszko National Park following windy mountain roads, past alpine villages and picturesque camping grounds. You’ll be treated to stunning vistas at every turn as you wind through tall mountain forests. Stop off at Thredbo Village for some supplies before continuing on. Keep an eye out for lookouts like Pilots Lookout and Scammels Ridge Lookout. Our tip: pack a picnic to take advantage of the beautiful campsites along the way.

Explore The Monaro Plains: Jindabyne – Dalgety – Berridale Loop

It’s not just about the sweeping mountain vistas, the foothills of the Snowy Mountains are home to the beautiful rolling plains and pastures of the Monaro. Enjoy the smaller country towns of Berridale and Dalgety along this countryside loop. Be sure to stop in to Shut The Gate Cellar Door and Providor in Berridale for some supplies and historic Buckley’s Crossing in Dalgety for an awesome pub feed.

Visit Australia’s Highest Ski Resort: Jindabyne to Charlotte Pass (summer only)

Charlotte Pass is Australia’s highest ski resort and whilst completely snowbound during winter, it’s a beautiful village to visit via car in the summer months. Wind through the picturesque Perisher Valley all the way to the top to enjoy some of the best views of the Kosciuszko Main Range. Be sure to jump out and take a walk on the Snow Gum Boardwalk, then head down into the village for lunch at Stillwell Hotel.

Keep The Scenic Mountain Views Coming: Charlotte Pass To Guthega

Whilst you’re already in the area, it’s worth heading off the beaten track with a drive out to Guthega (partial winter road closures). Enjoy the spectacular views of the Main Range and the expansive Guthega Dam. Stop for a bite to eat at Basecamp Cafe, or some nibbles and drinks at Guthega Inn, then continue onto Guthega Road stopping at Island Bend Campground for a wander before linking back on to Kosciuszko Road and heading back to Jindabyne 

Distance: 85km (Charlotte Pass > Guthega > Jindabyne)

Make A Day Of It: Snowy Mountains Highway

Known as the gateway to the Northern parts of Kosciuszko National Park, this scenic Snowy Mountains drive takes you from Cooma to Tumut. Take in the rolling countryside of the Monaro, incredible views of the rugged mountain ranges of Kosciuszko National Park, historic lime caves, stunning campsites and mountain huts. Be sure to stop off in the historic township of Adaminaby, located on the edge of Lake Eucumbene for a delicious treat from the bakery and to see the iconic Big Trout
