Tourism Snowy Mountains’ Event Marketing Fund: Recipients Announced

For immediate release: Tourism Snowy Mountains is proud to announce that the first round of grant recipients of the Tourism Snowy Mountains Event Marketing Fund have been announced.

The grant supports both existing and emerging events by providing financial support for the marketing and promotion of events in the Snowy Mountains region. It aims to increase event-based visitation to the area, enrich the visitor experience and promote the Snowy Mountains as a leading tourism and events destination.

From multi-day sporting events and food and wine festivals to two and four-wheel adventures for motoring enthusiasts, the first round of grant applications saw funding awarded to six applicants. This funding will go directly towards assisting with their marketing and promotional efforts.

We are very pleased to be able to support such a fantastic variety of events. We were really hoping to find events that promote regional dispersal along with ones that fall outside of the region’s traditional peak visitation periods, which is exactly what we’ve achieved“.

Information On The Events

Savour Snowy Mountains promises a weekend of delicious food and wine celebrating the seasonal local produce on offer in the south east of NSW. The weekend will include a series of food masterclasses and culinary collaborations, exclusive chef dinners, a farmer’s market, wine tasting and entertainment.

“To have this kind of funding opportunity available after the uncertainty of bushfires, lockdowns and COVID, really is a shining light after some tough years for our tourism industry. This funding allows businesses the opportunity to pursue and continue to establish events which may not have been possible without. It will be exciting to see a calendar full of unique events for the region, drawing tourists back time again and giving the Snowy Mountains year-round vibrancy.”

Rebecca Hedger – Marketing Manager, Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa

The Snowy Hydro Limited – Red Energy 2022 AEHF Cooma Nationals expects up to 250 cars from all over Australia to come to Cooma, bringing a huge influx of car enthusiasts, visitors and families to the town.

This grant will go a long way in helping to support and run the Nationals. With over 100 entrants and families attending, the entire region will be showcased, with cars travelling throughout during the four day event and cars being showcased at the Show and Shine at Cooma Showground. We encourage all local groups to apply for any future TSM grants as they are doing a lot to support locally run events“.

Kel Goodman – National Director, Australian Early Holden Federation and Cooma Car Club.

For the sporting enthusiasts, Snowies Multisport Festival by In2Adventure takes place in February and expects to see 2800 competitors and visitors enjoy three off-road events over two massive weekends. The events will take place at Lake Crackenback Resort including Snowies MTB Festival, Trail Run Australia, and Trex Cross Triathlon.

Funding has also been received by Snowy Trout Challenge, along with a brand new motorbiking event hitting Jindadbyne called Steel Horse Snowy Rally and Land Rover 75th Anniversary in Cooma.

About The Funding

The funding is part of the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund package received by Tourism Snowy Mountains to help support economic or social recovery, strengthen resilience and deliver  ongoing community benefit.

ROUND TWO applications will open in November 2022 with applications accepted for events being held prior to 31 December 2023.
